Eat Toxin Free Foods for the Best Health

When we purchase fruits and vegetables in the store, we don’t realize how many chemicals have been used on them to make them look so good. It is important to understand food toxins and to buy organic produce whenever how to eat toxin free foodpossible. Organic produce is becoming more popular and should become even more affordable as more people ask for it.

Genetically Modified Seeds are the First Problem – GMO Pros and Cons

Besides the chemicals sprayed on food, there is also the issue of farmers using genetically modified seeds (GMO). These seeds have been modified so that weeds don’t grow around the plants.

This sounds like a great idea and I understand why the seeds were created. Who wouldn’t want bigger crops and less weeds?food toxins

The problem is that now there are so many more health concerns among Americans. Studies show that many of our health concerns are linked back to these genetically modified seeds.

Our bodies don’t know what to do with GMO foods because they are not natural anymore. They have been modified and our bodies have to adapt to these foreign substances.

Why is GMO Bad?

“Numerous health problems increased after GMOs were introduced in 1996. The percentage of Americans with eat toxin free foodsthree or more chronic illnesses jumped from 7% to 13% in just 9 years; food allergies skyrocketed, and disorders such as autism, reproductive disorders, digestive problems, and others are on the rise. Although there is not sufficient research to confirm that GMOs are a contributing factor, doctors groups such as the AAEM tell us not to wait before we start protecting ourselves, and especially our children who are most at risk.” from Responsible Technology

I believe that farmers and seed companies need to reevaluate the practice of using these seeds. Yes, they were a good idea for them but now that the results are in, these seeds need to go away if we expect our health to improve.

Since “super weeds” have been produced from these “Round Up resistant seeds”, farmers are having to use even more chemical sprays than before.

Looking at the general health of Americans since 1996, it seems that our health has declined since the introduction of genetically modified seeds (GMO). Just like cigarettes sounded like a good idea at first, after the results came in, the lawmakers changed their recommendations. The same thing needs to happen with GMO seeds.

Toxin Free Food List

When you buy non-GMO and organic foods, your chemical load decreases significantly. Make life simple and focus on buying foods that are labeled “non-GMO” and/or “organic”.

Other toxins to avoid include:

  • Refined vegetable and seed oils like corn, sunflower, safflower, soybean and cottonseed oils. Use avacado, olive and coconut oil instead. Also trans fats found in deep fried foods should be avoided as well.
  • BPA (Bisphenol-A) is a chemical found in many plastic containers. It’s best to avoid all plastic containers if possible and use glass or stainless steel instead.
  • Mercury in Fish – waters contaminated with mercury contain plants that have mercury in them. Fish then eat these plants and pass the mercury on to us. Make sure you check out the varieties of fish that are high and low in mercury from this list http://www.nwwc.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/OB-FORM-Mercury-Levels-in-Fish.pdf
  • Added Sugar and artificial sweeteners (aspartame found in Nutrasweet and Equal) – many of our foods contain sugar already, so we are wise to not add any more sugar. Stevia and Lakanto sweeteners are great alternatives to refined sugar when sweetness is needed.
  • High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) – found in many processed foods. It could cause you to pack on the pounds and increases bad cholesterol.
  • MSG (monosodium glutamate) which is a flavor enhancer that is an excitotoxin which damages cells. Avoid this and all variations of this enhancer.
  • Sodium Nitrate/Sodium Nitrite is used as a preservative and coloring agent for food. Unfortunately, it is a carcinogen when it enters the digestive system.

Avoid these and you will be well on your way to figuring out how to eat toxin free foods so your family can be as healthy as possible.

Chemical Free Living

Some people think that chemicals are no big deal and that we are overreacting. I would prefer to avoid the chemicals and not wait until studies have proven my hunches correct.

Simply limit the products mentioned above and stick to real single-ingredient foods as much as possible. Our grandparents ate this way and they still enjoyed their food, so why can’t we.chemical free living

Thirty years ago we didn’t have to make this choice because organic didn’t matter. Our food was not modified and was good for us to eat. Since we don’t have that choice now, organic is our only option until farming practices start changing.

Going Chemical Free

Until people start standing up and demanding answers as to why there are so many people with autoimmune diseases, obesity, and many other conditions, nothing will change. When people speak up and use their purchasing power to show what they want in food, only then will the food producers listen.

When people start rejecting GMO foods and companies see that their profits are going down, then they might listen. It is amazing to see how many “non-GMO” food labels we are seeing now. The consumers are talking and companies need to listen and adjust their products.
