Keys to Healthy Eating Habits
Developing healthy eating habits is important. Food affects many areas of our lives; how we feel, how we react to stress, how much we can exercise, etc. There are thousands of diet books out there, but most of us are still overweight. Why is this?
I have tried many different eating plans and have found that eating real foods is the best way to work on the habit of eating healthy. Eat mostly vegetables and meat, a little fruit and stay away from processed foods.
Follow These Healthy Eating Habits –
- Water – Getting enough pure water each day is key to any healthy eating program. Whether you are 5 or 50, getting at least half your body weight in ounces of water each day will help you more than any other factor. Drinking ONLY water or stevia sweetened tea will get you to your health goals even faster. If you want to get there slowly, diet sodas and energy drinks will certainly do that for you. 🙂
- Real Food– Eating real food that your great grandmother would recognize is also important. If you would have to explain to Abe Lincoln what the food is that you are eating, you probably shouldn’t be eating it.
- Proper Fats – With the low-fat diet craze coming to a close, many people are realizing the benefits of eating real fats like butter, coconut oil and olive oil. Explore recipes that use them and don’t be afraid of good fats anymore!
- Snack/Sweet Substitutes – Usually people like either salty or sweet snacks. Most of the time these snacks are not necessarily healthy to eat. Whichever type of snack you favor, make sure you have a good alternative available. If you crave salty or crunchy snacks, consider having plenty of almonds on hand. If you tend to crave sweet things, then make sure you find a good recipe that uses a natural sweetener like stevia to satisfy your sweet tooth instead. Check out my Best Chocolate Almond Snack Recipe for help. This is the main snack I have on hand for myself.
Cleansing the body is also a great way to reset it and help it to desire good foods again. You want to stick with the best body cleansing programs. There are juice cleanses, soup cleanses, and even the Master cleanse. Whichever cleanse you choose, make sure you evaluate your lifestyle first. If you’re working from home all day, you’ll choose a different cleanse program than someone that commutes an hour a day each way.
I hope that these healthy living tips have been helpful to you.
