Here is our favorite Chili recipe. We use black beans instead of kidney beans because we prefer them. They probably have a better health benefit too.
Brown 1# ground beef
Add 1 medium onion, chopped
Cook until onion is soft.
Drain grease off.
Add 30 oz of canned black beans or soak and cook dry black beans
2 c whole tomatoes (can use canned or frozen too)
1 c seasoned tomato sauce. I use plain sauce and season it with some Italian seasoning
1 1/2 T chili powder
1 1/2 t salt
1 bay leaf
Simmer at least 1 hour. This recipe can easily be doubled or quadrupled and frozen for another day. I use extra chili to make Chili Pie.
